6/19/2006 Father's Day

This year we weren't going to have Pat home for Father's Day. He went back-packing in Maine and I was thrilled he was getting the chance to do something he loves. But, he missed us and came home early and what a privelege it was to have him home on this day.

He spent it in the way he usually spends all his days-unselfishly doing things for us. I went to Sunday school (we had smoothies and fruit for breakfast) and when I got back he had hung out the laundry on the line that I ran thru the wash, he washed vehicles, he watched the baby.

Then he surprised the kids by planning a day to hang out at his brother's camp and go to the beach. So, we got all packed up and drove the hour there.

It was a lot of fun.

The best part is that he and his brother have had a little bit of a tense relationship since some family dynamics that went on during Thanksgiving & Christmas. Well, we all got talking (while the older kids were riding bikes) and somehow it all came up and what a relief! I had felt reserved and nervous the whole day and after we all talked, it was such a feeling of peace and restoration. I'm so thankful! The two brothers hugged and everything felt natural again. I'm praising the Lord because before this month, Pat never wanted to see his siblings again. The Lord has really been working in all of their hearts in the last month or so.

So, we came home really late, full of sand and wet clothes, but it was good!
