6/25/2006 The 1000 Islands

Oh. My. Goodness. What an absolutely beautiful place!!!!!

We had such an awesome time. We were invited to a camp on the Canadian side by our friends, Joe & Diana. Theybuilt a timberframe cottage with a dock and two of his brothers built cottages on either side of his-all timberframes and gorgeous.
They all had kids(we know them all-all these guys plus Pat helped each other build all our houses a few years ago). The kids had so much fun playing with all the other kids-fishing, swimming, kayaking, exploring the woods. Pat & I enjoyed catching up with Joe & Diana-it's been a long time since we've been able to just all relax and hang out together.
We went for a boat ride all over the the waterways-and the weather was beautiful. The water was so crystal clear we could see to the bottom in so many places.
We saw this one "camp" that looked like a castle-they had made waterfalls with a pump house to pump the water from the river up their cliff and had landscaped waterfalls-it was incredible.
My favorite camps were small islands with rustic comfy camps with flowers all over on them and rope swings that went out over the water with docks with little boats big enough to pull kids on tubes.
One of the guys Pat works with has a "cigarette" boat and he was up there to watch the speedboat races, so we met up with him by boat. Jeff (with the cigarette boat) took them all for rides on it-wow, does it go fast. I didn't go on it.
Anyway, what an enchanted place and experience it all was.
They invited us to come for a couple days in August and we can't wait.
